Railway Coil Springs / Bogie Springs

As primary suspension springs, steel coils are normally fitted onto each axle box (also called “journal box”) of locomotive bogies or wagon bogies to carry the weight of the bogie frame and anything attached to it and to absorb shocks between the bogie frame and the rail vehicle body. Axle box springs are key body parts for locomotives and wagons.

Normally, primary suspension springs are consisted of inner coil springs and outer coil springs which work together as spring sets to achieve good shock-absorbing effect.

The chemical composition of raw spring steels varies according to different requirements and applicaitons. There are materials like 60Si2Mn, 60Si2Cr, 60Si2CrV, 60Si2MnCrV, and so on.

RISL can supply the following different kinds of axle box springs. Following are main diameters of outer spring coils and inner spring coils:

  • Outer Spring Coils: Ф20, Ф23, Ф24, Ф25, Ф30, Ф32, Ф34, Ф35, Ф36, Ф38, Ф40, Ф41, etc.
  • Inner Spring Coils: Ф12, Ф16, Ф17, Ф18, Ф19, Ф20, Ф22, Ф24, Ф25, Ф26, Ф28, Ф38, Ф40, etc.

RISL can also provide OEM service, and axle box springs can be tailor-made based on customers’ requirements and specifications, raw materials, chemical compositions, dimensions, sizes, mechnical properties, machining work, etc. can all be customized.
