A halogen bulb (also called tungsten halogen, quartz-halogen) is an incandescent bulb consisting of a tungsten filament sealed in a compact transparent envelope which is normally filled with a mixture of an inert gas and a small amount of halogen. Compared to ordinary and standard incandescent bulbs, halogen bulbs display longer service life, operate at higher temperatures, and produces light with higher lumination. Thanks to these features, halogen bulbs and halogen PAR56 sealed beams are widely used for locomotive headlamps, marker lamps, axiliary lamps, etc.
