A locomotive air compressor is required to provide a constant supply of compressed air for the air braking system and air control devices. There are many models available in China, such as NPT5 air compressor, W-1.6/9 air compressor, W-1.6/9-1 air compressor, 3W-1.6/9 air compressor, 3W-0.8/9 air compressor, L2.4/10 screw air compressor, L2.6/10 screw air compressor, etc.
The railway air compressors made in China are mostly air-cooled types. L2.4/10 screw air compressor is mainly used to supply the compressed air for the railway locomotive that needs moderate compressed air. Its main features are high efficiency, small vibration, lower noise, stable running, good reliability, few wearing parts and lower cost of maintenance. L2.4/10 screw air compressor is a double shafts rotation positive displacement compressor. It is used on some Chinese locomotives which were exported abroad. It can operate continuously at an ambient temperature of not higher than 50℃ to supply compressed air required by auxiliary air devices such as locomotive air brake system, control air devices, sanding devices, wind horns, and driver’s cab windshield wipers, etc.
